SCCA Ref: #83-177

Historical Notes:
The first owner of Chevron B8 BMW DBE-87 was Roger Heavens who raced the car in the 1970 European Championship Series with Mike Garton. Second owner was Tony Birchenhough, who drove it with Brian Joscelyn in the 1971 Series.

The car was then sold to Billy Blackledge of Jamaica who raced it in 1972 and 1973 in the Caribean area including Nassau, Jamaica, Santo Domingo and Cuba, winning nearly all races entered. Blackledge sold the car to Richard Melville and Geoffrey DePass of Jamaica who dismantled it and took it to the shop of John Gunn in Miami for rebuilding, never returning to retrieve it. (John Gunn co-drove the first B-8 brought to the USA finishing 6th overall and first in class in the Daytona 24 hour race of 1969.) John sold the car for storage charges to Harry Stevenson who drove it in SCCA races in 1974.

I bought the car from Harry in 1975 and raced it as a B-sports racer in SCCA races for three years. It was stored for several years, then restored at Don's Custom Classics Shop in Mims, Fla. and is now being raced in SCCA and VDCA vintage races throughout the Southeast USA.
